Victoria Park Vision
Victoria Park has a grand new vision – Brisbane City Council is converting the 18-hole golf course into Brisbane’s biggest park in 50 years. The future Victoria Park will be more than double the size of the City Botanic Gardens and maintain a lush green space of almost 45 hectares.
With that amount of space, the list included in the draft masterplan is expansive! Hailed to become a vibrant natural retreat, urban adventure hang out, cultural hub and outdoor entertainment space.
Plans are to restore the natural waterholes of the area and include water sport activities as well as community gardens and urban farming. It has also been confirmed that tree canopy cover will increase from 10% to 55%, one of the top requests from the Brisbane Public.
It’s business as usual for 2020, the golf course won’t close until 2021 and it’s worth to note that the other great features Victoria Park has to offer the eight function venues, bistro, putt putt and driving range will remain operational.
LOUD is very excited to see how this area transforms and what a unique opportunity to create another wonderful hub in the heart of a city contributing to Brisbane City Council’s vision of one of the most world’s most liveable cities.
