Gold Coast Hotels Get a Facelift

This month we’re featuring two new refurbishments in the SEQ Hotel Market that we’re excited about.

InterContinental Sanctuary Cove Resort has unveiled their $6 million refurbishment of its 251 suites and Cove Café breakfast room. The landmark Gold Coast resort’s accommodation collection has been redesigned with the intention to blend indoor and outdoor. The resort’s new furnishings and layout are inspired by its acre-long Lagoon Beach Pool and the four hectares of tropical gardens; with rooms “transformed into soothing havens of modern comfort and luxuriousness”. Rooms feature a neutral palette, complemented by colours drawing on the tropical aesthetic of the resort’s “luxe new look”. Cove Café has also been reinvigorated with a tropic-inspired aesthetic, featuring natural oak panelling and olive-hued velvets. The refurbishment artfully reflects the natural beauty of the resort’s grounds, embracing the green hues to blend in with the property’s unique design features including stained-glass windows in the Great House. The resort still retains the elegance and style of a grand Queensland estate.

JW Marriott Hotels & Resorts, make their debut in Australia this December following a $35 million rebrand of Queensland’s iconic Surfers Paradise Marriott Resort & Spa into the JW Marriott Gold Coast Resort & Spa. Upon completion of the renovation, the resort will be elevated to a new standard of luxury.

With a total of 223 rooms and suites, JW Marriott Gold Coast Resort & Spa has been designed, inspired by its natural surroundings, to promote and reflect the beauty and relaxed mood of coastal Queensland. The resort’s public spaces will be redefined but will retain the emblematic features of the original tropical design, which worked to create a connection to the surrounding lush hinterland landscape.

The property’s six food and beverage venues, including two feature restaurants, lobby lounge and bar, pool bar, a new Japanese whisky bar and a signature JW Marketplace, will ensure guests have access to a refined yet relaxing dining experience throughout their stay. The resort’s highly celebrated outdoor swimming pools, offering a variety of depths and activations, including the saltwater lagoon featuring over 300 tropical fish, will remain the heart of the JW Marriott.

Their 2,000 square meters of refreshed conference and meeting facilities will feature a state-of-the-art function space with ten scalable meeting spaces for different event requirements. The upgraded pillarless 715 square meter JW Ballroom will continue to feature vehicle access, geared for large-scale exhibitions and product launches. A junior ballroom will provide 276 square meters of flexible, stylish space for creative meetings and events. Flooded with natural light and with open views of the pool, the junior ballroom is also perfectly suited to weddings.

The resort will continue to welcome guests during the ongoing upgrading of the resort.
