Event Focus – Commonwealth Magistrates and Judges Association Conference
The triennial Commonwealth Magistrates and Judges Association Conference took place in Brisbane last week and LOUD were at the helm assisting the local organising committee in putting together the pieces of the conferencing puzzle.
The conference hosted over 470 delegates and their guests across six days with a program that included; four social events, an accompanying persons program and ‘the big day out’ which took the delegates to Lone Pine and a Brisbane cruise on the City Cats to Portside for Lunch.
The delegation was made up of the highest ranking judicial officers across the 67 Commonwealth Countries. We lost count of the number of people with the title ‘Sir’, ‘Lady’, ‘Chief Justice’, ‘Honourable’ and now to really show off ‘Her Excellency’ as the President of Trinidad and Tobago attended the conference. We were starting to get creative on what title we could add to our name ‘Lady LOUDies’. Ok, perhaps the title is a work in progress!
LOUD were appointed to assist in all venue liaison including technical management as well as logistics across the program. When engaged many of the contracts were already signed and venues selected. This can make it difficult as a conference organiser however after careful thought and further negotiation LOUD managed to save the conference a significant amount of money. This allowed for a greater delegate experience with funds reinvested into catering and additions into the tours.
To say this event was an experience for the team is an understatement. The people we met had such incredible stories and backgrounds with program topics that can be quite confronting. We salute all of these outstanding men and women that keep order across the globe and strive to see peace and harmony in our world.
Next month LOUD will showcase the accompanying persons tours and the ‘Big Day Out’ – the laughs had must be shared with you all!
