Event Focus – Backyard Bonanza 2017

The Backyard Bonanza (BYB) is an annual community event held by the Bracken Ridge Ward Office in conjunction with the Bracken Ridge Lions Club and LOUD events. The focus on the event is to bring all different community groups together and create a platform where they can fundraise, bring awareness to their initiatives and create a real camaraderie amongst the community. This year LOUD events were welcomed back and appointed to manage the event.

This year BYB saw McPherson park transform into an entertainment and activity hub with two live stages of entertainment, the launch of the Brisbane City Council Library Van, a zone tailored to free youth activities with skateboarding demonstrations, planting workshops, reptile tent, animal farm, laser tag, blow up soccer, jumping castle a dedicated side-show area. The famous Bracken Ridge Lions miniature steam trains were back putting smiles on faces for just $2 a trip!

LOUD has been working with the Bracken Ridge Ward Office for the past 3 years on BYB, helping to build the event bigger and better each year and this year was no exception! This year we worked with trusted suppliers Street ScienceShowtime AttractionsWild Encounters and Little Green Thumbs to add an element of excitement at the event with a dedicated youth zone with FREE activities for all guests at the event.

With guest numbers reaching a record of 6000, smashing previous attendance records of 4000, it was easily said that it was the best event in its ten-year history. This year the LOUD team moved away from traditional forms of marketing such as word of mouth and letterbox drops, to Facebook and boy did it make a difference! With over 30,000 interactions on the BYB Facebook Page over 4 months, and boosted guest numbers; Facebook marketing is certainly the way of the future.

LOUD is so proud to be working with local councils across Brisbane and SEQ to produce events that really evoke community pride. Touch base with our dedicated events team to find out how we can help your community or council in 2017.
